The Caminito del Rey is a 7.7 km linear walk pinned to the walls of the Gaitanes Gorge. It's safe, well maintained and one of the best half-days you can spend in Andalusia.
Book tickets at caminitodelrey.info at least 4–6 weeks ahead. Choose a morning slot in summer to avoid the heat. Bring water, sun protection and trainers — flip-flops are not allowed.
Getting there from Málaga: drive to the south entrance (El Kiosko) in about an hour, or take the renfe Cercanías to Álora and a shuttle bus. After the walk, lunch at Restaurante El Kiosko before heading back.
